Jade Blue is an English language teacher, trainer, and materials developer. Her primary research interests focus on learner-generated visuals in ELT, learner autonomy, and integrating life skills into classroom practice. She has presented at various conferences including IATEFL and as a Keynote speaker at The Image Conference.
Jade currently teaches and delivers teacher training courses at The English Language Centre in Brighton, where she has worked since 2013. Her experience includes teaching all levels of General English as well as one to one and exam preparation courses. She is an experienced Business English trainer and has taught both in schools and companies in the UK and Germany.
Jade’s teacher training includes intensive courses in Language Methodology & Culture, Aspects of Teaching and Teaching Business English. She delivers face to face seminars and workshops for schools and institutions around Europe, and is a tutor at The School for Training in Barcelona.
In addition to a wide range of ELT articles on classroom practices and teaching methodology for Cambridge University Press and Macmillan Education, Jade has also been published in IATEFL Voices (Conceptualising Language: Learner Generated Visuals, 2018) and English Teaching Professional (Look at it this Way: Redesigning Grammar, 2019), and has contributed to a Routledge publication on Reflective Practice in ELT.
As an artist and illustrator, Jade mainly works with pen and ink, and specialises in comic-style drawings and characters. Her work as an artist frequently overlaps with her ELT projects, and includes conference slide illustrations for teacher, trainer and writer, Kieran Donaghy, and coursebook author Antonia Clare. Jade and Kieran are currently collaborating on a visual grammar reference book for learners, and Jade has produced a range of illustrations and graphics for classroom use.
