Teacher Development: IATEFL PronSIG Event

Last weekend I travelled to Bath to attend the ‘Ways of Pronunciation Teaching’ event organised by PronSIG (the pronunciation special interest group of IATEFL – The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) and Teach it World.

The four speakers at the event and their talks were as follows:

Adrian Underhill   Touch base with pron: find the muscles that make
                   the difference

Ray Parker         ‘Bring back stress-timing!’ – Linking insights
into pronunciation to the development of
                   listening skills

Mark Hancock       Pronunciation Play

Edward Hughes      Music and Speech

It was a very stimulating and thought provoking day, well worth the epic train journey and absurdly early start.  Despite my tiredness I was inspired enough to spend my journey home writing about the day.

Given that so much was covered during the course of the day, I shall post about each of the speakers separately.  You can find the 4 individual posts as sub-pages of this one.
